NZ's pandemic grift continues against all odds and sanity
The good people overseas don't understand the level of delusion at work in this country.
Let me tell you a little bedtime story.
It's darker than pitch in an underground bunker. You're fumbling down the path best you can.
There's rocks off to the left. To the right, empty space. You hear a low rumbling.
"Just ahead," says your companion. A scientist.
Scientists know how to figure things out. You feel confident.
"We've got this new counting machine that counts the drops of water in the air and tells us if there's water nearby," he explains.
"Why do you need this? Can't you just look at the water?"
"It's dark. You can't see the water."
"I know you can't SEE it. But it's there. I can hear it right now. I feel the mist on my skin."
"Are you an epidemiologist waterologist?"
"No."
"Then you need to trust the experts."
Let's pause here.
Would you entertain the idea that there's no water out there in the dark?
Do you believe that you need your friendly Expert and his arcane machinery to know if it's there?
I hope not. I don't attract gullible readers.
The water's there. It's doing what water does, following well-known laws of physics, chemistry, hydrology and so forth.
It's there, you know it's there, and you're picking up on it the same way your ancestors picked out water for eons.
It would take the unrestrained hubris of a braggart bureaucrat playing scientist to assume that his testing method is the final word on whether there's water.
I've used this little parable to explain exactly how "Covid" was determined to be present, or not, in New Zealand during our (formerly) world-class response.
Eugyppius writes with his usual perceptiveness:
Remember that SARS-2 arrived in Europe no later than November 2019, and in America no later than December 2019. The West saw multiple months of community transmission, in other words, and nobody noticed any strange mortality patterns. Hospitals remained as empty or as full as ever. As soon as we imposed lockdowns and started testing everybody, though, mortality spiked.
I find this entirely plausible.
This sucker was here, there, and everywhere before the finest smug and useless managers had clue one.
The presence and absence of Covid in this country was determined by committee, first and foremost.
That decision then dictated whether the evidence "proved" that Covid was in the community.
The Experts believed so wholeheartedly in their methods of detection that the reality of the waterfall didn't get a hearing.
It’s well known that when the mental model guiding action doesn’t track reality, the result is a pattern of nonsensical behaviors.
Our beloved and wholly discredited public health and epidemiological communities were serving us with busted porcelain while assuring us they knew best.
The Experts commit many sins. The most egregious might be this belief that what they can measure is all there is.
If the scenario eugyppius describes is right, then the Covid was circulating long before anybody knew about it.
Let's rewind to July 2021.
We here in En-zed were told by the Single Horse of Truth that there was no Covid in NZ.
The bureaucrats checked their disease-o-meters and assured us it was so.
It struck me then, as it does now, that it was all a bunch of busy-body movement with no real purpose.
Testing would never be widespread enough, nor accurate enough, to catch every possible case.
Now, you outsiders must understand one thing about the Kiwi psyche.
Kiwis LOVE the government. They love having the State tell them what to do. When the government doesn’t tell them, they whine and moan until some bureaucrat makes a new regulation. Even the Kiwis that don't like the government still ask the government to do something about the government.
It's quite surreal.
It's a serious flaw in the collective psyche of this country. If a bureaucrat says it’s true, a solid 60 or 70% of the public will believe it is so.
When the bureaucrats declared the country free of the end-times plague, that was that.
What nature did was not part of that equation.
But consider this.
You know what I don’t do when I catch a cold?
Run to my GP begging for a test to see if I can spit out a positive Covid result on a PCR test.
What I do is sit at home, eat bad foods, maybe have a few shots of whiskey, and try to sleep until I feel better.
A LOT of people would do this. Not all of the public are hypochondriacs.
And if that should have happened as early as December 2019 or January of 2020?
Lots of “huh, weird cold” responses and then people go on with their lives.
You can join these dots for yourself.
Here's another example.
Right in the middle of July 2021, my household got sick. Might have been the kids, might have been the SO, but one of them brought it home early in the week.
They were all fine after a couple days of feeling grotty. Me? I caught it around mid-week. Felt it coming on. By Thursday afternoon it hit me hard.
I spent that night struggling to breathe through my nose. Understand, sinus congestion is not unusual for me, so whatever. It never got into my throat and lungs. This was a cold as far as I could tell. Uncomfortable and that’s about it.
What WAS weird was the racing heart, the night sweats, and losing my sense of taste and smell for two days.
Symptoms that never happen to me with your ordinary seasonal cold.
With the luxury of relatives in the US, who coincidentally caught the Delta right around this time, we compared symptoms.
Turns out that I had basically the same illness they did. Right down to the odd symptoms.
But here's the problem. In July 2021, we’d been warned to be on the lookout for "deadly Delta". We'd already been scared about a "close call" a few weeks previous due to some poor Australian scapegoat that the idiots here couldn’t wait to blame.
This was back when morons still blamed sick people for “locking us down”, like the fools in Wellington didn’t hold 100% blame for that criminal policy.
Since the official story was that there was no Covid in NZ, clearly I didn't have the disease that I had.
I had some other disease with all the same symptoms, after a case mysteriously showed up and then never transmitted to anyone else, in spite of being highly contagious.
Do you believe your lying eyes, or the bean counters who assure you that reality isn't happening?
Point being, I’d bet you any amount of money that I’ve got the right antibodies, despite never officially testing positive.
Which would explain why I’ve been entirely untouched by this bad cold season Omicron wave, despite having none of the Holy Fizzer injections.
I keep hearing I’d have had it way worse if I didn’t the shots.
I can accept that.
Now that we're hearing Michael "Mask 'Em Harder" Baker tune back in with his grift, I'm getting PTSD flash backs.
"If we just lock you down a little harder, give you another 2 or 4 booster shots, THIS TIME we'll beat it."
The record is not only broken. It's shattered on the floor, pieces stomped into grime, and Michael Baker is still out there grifting.
There's a saying down here that NZ is 6-12 months behind the rest of the world. We're on track.
People still outdoors in masks on windy days with sun.
2/3 people in cafes, where there’s not even an official requirement to mask, masked to the eyeballs.
Still masked up in cars by themselves.
Got “serious influencers” in our media (LMAO) telling people to mask up to keep us safe from the sexually-transmitted monkeypox.
Then I talk to friends in the US and I get a bewildered reaction.
"Covid? You guys still doing that?"
Yeah. Yeah, we sure are.
Our failed prime minister has nothing else to campaign on. She’s done everything but physically set the country on fire and I’m not sure she won’t try that before it’s all finished.
That and a bunch of irrelevant mediocrities crawled out of the universities and haven't realized their 15 minutes of fame ended back in January. They’re still trying desperately to stay in the spotlight and the prostitutes in our media keep interviewing them.
There is going to be a lot of mental damage here for years to come.
The disease was nothing. In hindsight, we should have just let the thing rip and get it over with. Instead we burnt down the country so that our attention-seeking media whore PM could go on talk shows and lecture NATO.
You start to understand why the best and brightest go elsewhere. Though, if some of them hung around and tried to make a go of the place, we wouldn’t have to settle for the third-rate D-students we keep putting in charge.
Sometimes I think NZ gets what it deserves.

Oh come on there's comedy gold in Jacinda saying "the world is more complicated than most people think, it's not black and white" after two months away.
I have the same reaction. You still doing that? In California we have people masking up, counties monitor but I’m not really sure how.
If the healthcare system had not almost collapsed in urban areas (New York, Los Angeles), if the number of Covid deaths per day had not run into the thousands, this country with Trump at the helm would have had many more deaths. The rural areas fought back tooth and nail against the CDC. It was funny that my brother who believes doctors are out to kill people nonetheless wore a mask because he’d had open heart surgery done by—you guessed it—a doctor.
It’s interesting that you use what you know of science to inform your decision that water is there in the dark—physics I think you referred to. Other sciences too.
It could be bad science, not all science, that’s the problem. It would be cool if there was an alternative.
