I’ve never quite understood why New Zealand has such a self-loathing attitude. It almost rises to the level of a cultural death-wish. For example, this practice of allowing foreign saboteurs into the Parliament, where they go on to loudly demand onerous changes to the locals they now presume to rule:

Regarding Aotearoa. It's a British invention. Aotea were one of the canoes that came here to NZ, from where who knows. But it's the British who added the roa to that.
